About the Department
The Department of commerce was started in the year 1977. At that time, ours was the only college imparting Commerce education in this part of North Karnataka. The mission of the Department is to assist rural, poor students in getting Commerce education and in succeeding creation of jobs. Shri. S. A. Patil is the first head of the department who has laid the strong foundation for the Department. In the long run of the Department, many great teachers served in this Department. The efforts of Shri. S. M. Savadi, Shri. S. F. Dani, Dr. B. M. Hiremath, Shri. B. S. Gavi, Dr. S. B. Hagaragi, Dr. Kishor Pangi, Shri. B. F. Gamangatti, Shri M. C. BakanettiB. S. Mali and Prof. V.V. Patil supported the Department to achieve its goals and fulfil the desires set by the objectives of the Department. Their contribution is unforgettable for the student community and the Department is indebted to all these teachers. At present Dr. Laxmi kantha Nayaka T.O. is heading the Department with the support of devoted teachers like Shri. N.B.Patil and many guest and visiting faculties. The PG programme in Commerce (MCom) was introduced in 2008 to full fill the long-awaited desire of the aspirant students. The Department of Commerce is proud to provide an excellent, carrier-oriented courses (UG & PG) with add-on ITR filing (income tax return filing) course to add value to the main courses. It is a great pleasure to the Department to announce that 01 P G Student and 08 UG students have grabbed University Ranks in total.

A Student of Bachelor of Commerce at the time of graduation will be able to:
