The Department of Physics was started with the inception of the College, in the year 1969. The then Principal Shri. G. D. Somannavar headed the department. Under his guidance the laboratories were set up systematically. Presently Shri. R. M. Patil is heading the department.
FacultyThe action force of the college to achieve its objectives is a team of well qualified faculty with enviable background, 08 PhDs and 07 MPhils, and with varied experiences. The college has the faculty with excellent credentials working relentlessly to enhance the skills of the students. More than three hundred research articles have been published by the faculty in different international and national refereed journals. Many have written valuable books. All are research oriented. Every teacher has got a deep concern for the all-round development of students’ personality. They plan and prepare well for their class-room activities and are well trained in using ICT enabled teaching aids. Every teacher tries to ensure transparency and accountability.
The Department of Chemistry was started with the inception of the College, in the year 1969. Shri. M. V. Rati was the first Head of the department. Presently Shri. S. B. Vanjire is the Head of the Department.

The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1969. The mission of the department is to provide an environment where students can learn and become competent users of mathematics and mathematical applications. Moreover, the Department will contribute to the development of students as mathematical thinkers, enabling them to become lifelong learners, to continue to grow in their chosen professions and to function as productive citizens. The pioneer members of this Department are Shri. C. S. Baligar, Shri. M. C. Koti and Shri. S. P. Shrinivasan. Substantially, the faculty members who built the Department are Shri. P. N. Halagali, Shri. C. V. Kadleppanaver, Shri. S. M. Birade, Shri. T. M. Shashidhar, Prin. S. I. Mudhol, Prin. C. S. Salimath, Shri. B. I. Noginihal, Miss. S. B. Angadi, Shri. M. V. Gadad, Shri. C. V. Presently Dr. Vinayak V. Manjalapur is the Head of the Department with a team of dedicated and sincere faculty members; Smt. Vidya Bastwade, Miss. Annapoorna Khot and Dr. Madhura Manjalapur.
During the year 2013-14 UGC approved the Minor Research Project entitled ‘Some Studies in Point Set Topology – Some more Properties of Generalized Closed Sets and its Allied Forms’ to Shri. M. B. Rotti and submitted the final report on 17th May 2017.
The Department has a good record of Ranks, Gold Medals and Centum scorers. On an average, every year the Department has produced more than five centum scorers.

The Department of Botany was started with the inception of the College, in the year 1969. Shri. P. K. Bhandi was the first Head of the department. Presently Dr. G. P. Yalavattimath is the Head of the Department. PG Programme in Botany was introduced in 2018.
FacultyThe Department of Zoology was established in the academic year 2000–2001. Since its founding, the department has focused on providing UG level education in Zoology to students in the region. The faculties have played a key role in the development and advancement of the department.
Presently Dr. S. I. Puranik is the Head of the Department. The department has introduced skill oriented programs like a certificate course in Food Processing Technology, Add on course on Waste Management and Value added course on Mushroom cultivation to offer additional knowledge and expertise to the stakeholders.Faculty and students have been regular in participating at the academic activities to present their views on the current cross cutting issues. We provide a comprehensive course that blends traditional Zoology with a strong foundation in contemporary Biology, ensuring students gain both classical and modern perspectives.
We also provide a wide range of experiential learning opportunities through study tours and field visits, enabling stakeholders to explore specific interests within this diverse and enriched field of Zoology.The department organizes regular industrial visits, conduct special lectures, workshops and seminars. The faculties and students actively participate and present their papers in National and International level seminars and conferences regularly.The department has several publications in peer-reviewed journals to its credit. One Minor Research Project (MRP) entitled “Enhancement of silk production through water conservation in Chikodi” is completed (2005 to 2011) with the funding of Rs. 1,80,000 from UGC.
The computer science department is the part of B K College, Chikodi. The department offers 3 year Under-Graduate program which deals with subject and topics related to computer application and services. Technological implementation of computer system is the main agenda of the program. The program ranges widely from creating quality professionals who are working in every sector of the world today.
An Undergraduate program in Computer Science was established in 2000. Many great teachers like Prof (Miss) S.S. Kurbet, Prof B .I. Hebballi, Prof B. N. Shivkumar, Prof. S. K. Salagare, Miss B.R. Hanji, Miss S.M Mathapati, Smt S.S khinnavar , Shri M. S Mayannavar, Miss A.A Hirekodi, Miss N.R Sigli, and Miss G. B. Kustigar are contributed with their efforts and services to built the department. Our classes are small to medium sized, offering students many opportunities to work closely with faculty.
